Sillunu Oru Kadhal is the forthcoming film of Suriya by debutant director N.Krishna who was an associate of Gautham Menon. Bhoomika Chawla and Jyothika are playing the lead roles with Suriya. This movie is produced simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil by Kalaipuli S. Dnahu. Producer Gjanavel, cousin of Suriya says that the film is shaping out extremely well and the songs tuned by A.R.Rahman are going to rock the charts. They plan to release the film by August end.
For Suriya, Sillunnu Oru Kadhal is one of the most important films in his career. First and foremost, it is Suriya’s maiden home production under the banner of ‘Green Studios’. He has a matured look in the first half in which he is paired with Jyothika. In the second half flashback scenes, Suriya plays a college student. He is being paired with Jyothika for the fifth time and they want the film to be a hit as the pair plans to tie the knot in October. What better way to get married to the heroine of your last “super hit” film?
Sillunnu Oru Kadhal has Bhumika Chawla as Suriya’s old love who resurfaces creating tensions in the happy married life of the lead pair. Remember that Asin was supposed to do this role which she later refused. The story of Sillunnu Oru Kadhal is a closely guarded secret. If Sillunnu Oru Kadhal clicks, then Suriya’s position in Kollywood is sure to rise. His forthcoming projects are with directors like Vishnuvardhan and Gautham Menon who will ensure that his popularity will come up.
A.R.Rahman has made a fantastic comeback in Tamil with Studio Greens Sillunu Oru Kadhal featuring Suriya, Jyothika and Bhumika. Rahman is at the pinnacle of glory and is today the number one music director in Bollywood especially after the phenomenal success of Rang De Basanti which has stuck the right note with generation Y. Khalbali…, Patashala…. and Thodi Si Dhool Mere… are all about the India of today. However, back in Chennai and Tamil film music where it all started, Rahman had slipped and today there are half a dozen pretenders to his throne.
Rahman’s Tamil audio is nothing much to write about and his last few albums like Godfather were major disappointments. Now things look better with the music of Sillunu Oru Kaddhal where Rahman’s unique style comes across mainly due to its distinct western notes. In this romantic movie, Rahman has mixed world sounds with Indian and made music that is essentially A.R.Rahman of the old that we all know.
There are seven songs in the album out of which only five are likely to be seen on screen. The lyrics are superbly conjured by Vaali as they tumble out like pelting raindrops on a mellow monsoon morning. Rahman displays an unusually strong melodic flair in all the tracks.
But the bottom line of the audio depends on how the songs are packaged and the visual impact that they are able to create on the audience. If the audience like the film and it turns out to be a hit, then Rahman and his Sillunu Oru Kadhal album will be a chartbuster A.R. Rahman says “The music is sure to make this movie a chart buster. I have brought in some of the western notes into the songs.”
